Banii provin din Fondul European de Dezvoltare Regională, în cadrul Programului de Cooperare Transfrontalieră Ungaria-România 2007 – 2013. Proiectul are o durată de 12 luni, partenerul maghiar fiind reprezentat de Departamentul de Geografie Socială, Dezvoltare şi Planificare Regională al Universităţii din Debrecen. Prin implementarea proiectului se urmărește dezvoltarea programelor de studii doctorale prin cooperarea transfrontalieră dintre universităţi. Potrivit lui Vasile Grama, responsabil cu comunicarea, intenția este de îmbunătăţire a oportunităţilor studenţilor de a urma un program doctoral şi dezvoltarea programelor de cercetare şi educaţie inovativă comune. Proiectul se adresează unui număr de 20 de doctoranzi (10 din România şi 10 din Ungaria), aflaţi în primul an al Programului Doctoral. Proiectul va asigura sprijin deplin acestor doctoranzi pe tot parcursul derulării proiectului. De asemenea, proiectul va sprijini 10 profesori şi 10 cercetători, atât români cat şi maghiari, în proporţii egale, pentru participarea la activităţi din cadrul proiectului – workshop-uri, vizite de studiu şi o Şcoala de Vară organizată de către partenerul maghiar.
